Artist Biography
Robert Pailes discovered nature photography soon after
purchasing
his first camera in the summer of 1997. A trip to the Ding Darling
National
Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island, simply to learn how to use the camera,
quickly
turned into a love affair that has changed his life forever. After two
weeks of
photographing the local wildlife, he decided to pursue wildlife and nature
photography as a second career.
Three years later he
sent his first magazine submission
to Birder's World magazine. They awarded him the Cover shot for July,
2001. Since then Robert has been published in
numerous magazines and
calendars around the country, and also publishes a line
of Greeting Cards
called Santiva Treasures, featuring the shorebirds
of southwest Florida.
His fine art prints have been featured in a number of
galleries on Sanibel and
Captiva, including BIG ARTS, the Barrier Island Group for the Arts.
In the winter of 2002, Robert was commissioned by the Useppa Island
Museum of
Natural History to photograph and produce a
display of fine art nature prints. A collection of Robert's fine art
prints are
currently
displayed at the McEnroe Gallery on Sanibel Island.
